The summer season starts a little earlier at the Jersey Shore with the 5th Annual Seaside Music Festival On May 17th – 19th 2012. Over 60 different musical acts will be playing throughout Seaside Heights bars such as The Aztec Bar, Jimbos, Jack and Bills, Klee’s, Hemingways and the Sawmill. And there’s an outdoor stage too. After ending the 2011 Season with a disastrous four-game losing streak, the Lakewood BluecCaws will begin their 2012 campaign with new players, a new manager and a new attitude that will hopefully include a championship run.
This marks the 12th Season for the Lakewood BlueClaws, the Single-A Affiliate for the Philadelphia Phillies. Mickey Morandini takes over as the new manager for the BlueClaws. He was at Williamsport last year, which is intriguing because there are more Williamsport players on BlueClaws’ roster (11) than returning BlueClaws players. Of the 25 active players on the Opening Day roster, only 4 are returning players from the BlueClaws last season. A lot of new faces moved up from the Phillies’ Farm System into the BlueClaws’ lineup, most notably 3B Maikel Franco, one of the best young prospects at his position.
