It’s Official: We Have The Best Cheerleaders
The Ocean County College Vikings Cheerleaders just won 1st Place at the 2012 National Cheerleaders Association and National Dance Alliance’s Collegiate Cheer & Dance Championship in Daytona, Florida this week.
Their victory in the Intermediate All Girl II Division was captured while outscoring squads from four-year universities from North Carolina, Massachusetts, Georgia and Texas. And it’s the first National Title in Ocean County College cheerleading history.
And in case you missed their amazing win, you can catch it televised on the CBS Sports Network on April 29 and May 6 at Noon.
Let’s all congratulate Coach Maureen Williams and the 1st Place Vikings Ocean County College Cheerleading Team!
The BlueClaws Are Back!
After ending the 2011 Season with a disastrous four-game losing streak, the Lakewood BluecCaws will begin their 2012 campaign with new players, a new manager and a new attitude that will hopefully include a championship run.
This marks the 12th Season for the Lakewood BlueClaws, the Single-A Affiliate for the Philadelphia Phillies. Mickey Morandini takes over as the new manager for the BlueClaws. He was at Williamsport last year, which is intriguing because there are more Williamsport players on BlueClaws’ roster (11) than returning BlueClaws players. Of the 25 active players on the Opening Day roster, only 4 are returning players from the BlueClaws last season. A lot of new faces moved up from the Phillies’ Farm System into the BlueClaws’ lineup, most notably 3B Maikel Franco, one of the best young prospects at his position. And don’t forget outfielder Kyrell Hudson, who was taken in the 3rd Round in 2009. (more…)
