Brick Goes Green (Again)

The Second Annual Brick Township Green Fair will take place on Saturday, April 28 at Veterans Memorial Middle School, 105 Hendrickson Avenue, from 11am – 3pm.  The Green Fair is open to all citizens and is free to attend.

The Green Fair is a community-wide Earth Day celebration designed to educate, enlighten and encourage people of all ages, incomes and backgrounds to adopt a more environmentally and socially responsible lifestyle.  There will be information on hand, exhibits, vendors and much more. And Ocean Happening will have a table at this great community event (so make sure you stop by and say “Hello”). (more…)

A History of the US Presidents At The Jersey Shore

With President’s Day here again in Ocean County, it is important to note that the Jersey Shore has its place in Presidential History. Up in Long Branch, for example, Seven President’s Park pays tribute to the Seven US Presidents who visited the Jersey Shore during the summer months in the 19th Century. But what about in Ocean County? What US Presidents paid a visit here? Let’s take a look:

ClevelandDuring the late 19th Century-early 20th Century, as the Jersey Shore became a booming tourist attraction during the summer, many Presidents vacationed at the Jersey beaches. Two Presidents in particular, Grover Cleveland and William McKinley, famously stayed in Point Pleasant Beach vacation homes during a few of their summer visits.
